With the festive season upon us once again, we continue to receive questions from employers regarding the tax implications of expenditure incurred on staff Christmas parties and/or gifts.
Importantly, with a little planning and maintaining good record-keeping practices, employers can generally minimise (or in some cases, eliminate) any FBT costs associated with the festive season.
The New South Wales Court of Appeal in Richards v Gray  NSWCA 402 (2 December 2013) dealt with Costs of Funds Management issues and allowed the appeal in part. Read more ...
